We comply with laws and regulations applicable to the countries and regions in which we operate, and we respect the human rights described in the International Bill, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and ILO on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (the International Organization Declaration). We also support the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact, and work to respect human rights based on these principles.

  • We will promote human rights due diligence to identify, prevent, and mitigate human rights risks in the company and in the supply chain. We ask our suppliers to respect human rights based on the Kurabe Group CSR Purchasing Guidelines.
  • We endeavor to increase understanding and interest in human rights through dialogue with stakeholders, such as employees, business partners, and local communities. In addition, we will establish a system to respond to inquiries and complaints about human rights violations, discrimination, and harassment.
  • We work to correct and remedy human rights violations through appropriate procedures when it becomes clear that our business activities are causing negative impacts on human rights or are contributing to human rights violations through our supply chain or business relationships.
  • We conduct necessary education and skill development so that each and every employee can correctly understand and implement this policy.
  • We regularly evaluate the status of implementation of this policy and its results, and make continuous improvements. We will also disclose the details of our activities through various reports and websites.

We take into consideration the following as the main human rights issues related to business activities.

  • Prohibition of Forced Labor

    We ensure that there is no forced labor or human trafficking, and that employees are hired at their own discretion and are free to leave their jobs at any time.

  • Prohibition of child labor and consideration for young workers

    We do not employ children who are under the minimum working age stipulated by the laws and regulations of each country or region. We do not allow employees under the age of 18 to work in a manner that impairs their development.

  • Consideration for working hours

    We do not allow employees to work beyond the limits set by the laws and regulations of each country or region, and properly manage working hours and holidays, considering international standards.

  • Appropriate wages and benefits

    We comply with the laws and regulations of each country and region, endeavor to provide better working conditions for our employees, pay above the statutory minimum wages, and do not make any unreasonable wage reduction.

  • Prohibition of inhumane treatment

    We respect the human rights of employees without inhumane treatment such as abuse, corporal punishment, and various types of harassment.

  • Prohibition of discrimination

    We prohibit any discrimination whatsoever, regardless of race, color, age, sex, ethnicity, nationality, religion, pregnancy, etc., in all employment situations, and realize fairness and equal opportunity. We also respect the individuality and diversity of our employees and work to create an environment in which each employee can demonstrate his or her abilities.

  • Freedom of association, right to collective bargaining

    We respect the right of employees to organize as a means of realizing labor-management consultations on the working environment, wage levels, etc., in accordance with the laws and regulations of each country and region.

  • Safe and Healthy Working Environment

    We put the safety and health of our employees first and create a safe and secure work environment.

  • Respect for the rights of local communities and indigenous peoples

    We understand the culture and history of local communities and conduct our business activities in a manner that respects the rights of local residents to prevent negative impacts on their safety, health, and environment. In areas where indigenous peoples exist, we also respect the rights of indigenous peoples as stipulated in international agreements.
